The health and human services organization NAVH has teamed up with One Little West 12th to present an evening to drink, dance, eat and be merry all for charity. Happy Hour for Cause 2008 will take place on August 26, 2008 from 6pm-11pm atOne Little West 12th in the Fashionable Meat Packing District. Tickets for this exciting event are $65, which includes free open bar and hors d’oeuvres from 6pm-8pm.
Over 50 years ago Lorraine Marchi, a fourth generation San Franciscan, and mother of four children began NAVH. Her oldest son was born with albinism, and she became aware that schools were unable to supply adequate large print educational materials for children like her son who did not require Braille. Out of that frustration and concern NAVH was born. We are committed to ensuring that impaired vision does not result in impaired life. Our mission is to help the "hard of seeing", worldwide cope with the psychological effects of visual impairment
and to provide low vision services, visual aids and
training to anyone in need of these services.
Our special guests for the evening include DJ Harley Sears who has been described as a "rock 'n' roll impresario, auteur and arch anglophile." He manages bands in both America and Britain, including the piano/drums rock duo "KRISTEENYOUNG" and London's "Rubicks." He is a regular guest DJ - spinning an eclectic mix of rock, electronic, glam and punk. Sears recently received national exposure with his series of videos for Keenan Duffty, who designed the Bowie by Keenan Duffty clothing line for Target stores. The Bowie refers to rock legend David Bowie.
In addition, we have a special guest performance by Daisy Rock Artist Sunset West. Sunset West is more than just a band; it is a family…literally. Brother-sister duo Jill and Mark Jayne have combined their love of music into the loud, energetic giant now known as Sunset West. Hailing from New York City, Sunset West has taken the world by storm. UK rock magazine Black Velvet says, “Their confident and upbeat knack not only overshadows blank slates like Avril Lavigne, but also puts them to shame, storybook endings and all.”
