The Clean Sanctuary Campaign needs as many volunteers as possible. The debris is unsuitable for the reserve because it clogs beaches, settles to the benthic (river bottom) environment, and causes unhealthy food foraging among shorebirds.
Cleanup will start at 9 am, and will continue for roughly 7 hours, however, you can participate for as long as you want.
The Park will provide skimmers, telescoping hook poles, and rolling debris carts. Water, coffe and donuts will be provided as well.
You must be 18 years of age, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Sturdy footwear with deep treads, and long pants required. Dress for the weather. Registration is required. Location: Gansevoort Peninsula, Husdon River Park Address:
