How did you meet?: We met on Jdate in 2006. Chris sent
me a wonderfully long email about himself and asked me questions as
well.
Everything was punctuated and spelled
correctly, which is rare on Jdate. It was thoughtful and I was excited
to write him back. After two weeks of wonderful emails, we decided to
do the
ever popular "meeting for coffee." We had great conversation and I
thought he was so cute, so we had a second date at Max Brenner and then
a third,
then a fourth and so on!
How did Chris propose? I was supposed to meet my friend Tiffany, whose wedding I am in next year. She told me in an email that all of
her bridesmaids were gathering to
meet up for pictures in Riverside Park one Saturday since some of the
out of town bridesmaids were coming up for a visit. I see this friend
frequently
on Saturdays so I didn't suspect anything. Meanwhile, Chris had sent me
an email from one of his friends who wanted to have lunch with him on
that
Saturday as well.
As I left my apartment, my friend texted me saying that they had
to change the location because Riverside Park was too windy and to
please meet her
in the courtyard area of Tavern on the Green. I said sure and hopped in
a cab to meet her there.
When I got there though, none of the other girls were there. Chris was
in the courtyard instead standing near a picnic blanket, flowers,
champagne
and Crumbs cupcakes. I was so dumbfounded to see him standing there. He
then asked me to marry him and when I said yes and looked around,
several
tourists were clapping and wiping away tears. It was wonderful. What
makes it more wonderful is that my friend was hiding behind a tree with
a
video camera. So we have the moment on tape.
