The National Network to End Domestic Violence's "Take A Stand" Gala

The National Network to End Domestic Violence hosted the "Take A Stand" Gala at the Mandarin Oriental, Washington, D.C., on September 17.
Denise Brown, co-founder and president of the Nicole Brown Foundation, served as the master of ceremonies. There were musical performances by Lynda Carter, best known for playing the title role in the TV series "Wonder Woman," and Grammy Award-winning vocalist Patti Austin.
U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and U.S. Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX-2) received NNEDV's Visionary Leadership Award. The Allstate Foundation was honored with the Corporate Stewardship Award, and Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment, based in Detroit, Michigan, was recognized with the Spirit of Advocacy Award.
Special guests included U.S. Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MD-4), NNEDV's co-founder and first executive director; Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown; Academy Award-winning, Golden Globe Award-winning actress Mira Sorvino; and Grammy-nominated vocalist Raheem DeVaughn.
