Kalalou Kafe in conjunction with Total Ambiance Productions present Fashion for a Cause: The Art of Fashion, a culturally enriching arts event to benefit the Gaskov Clerge Foundation. The event slated to take place at 7pm on Sunday, July 27th is a mélange of fashion, music, and art that will surely delight all in attendance. Crash Mansion located on Bowery and Spring street, with it's sleek, classy, yet unpretentious vibe serves as the ideal backdrop for the sounds of drums, poetry, music and the beautiful sight of couture from gowns to suits and casual wear to undergarments.
This event will be a way of infusing the art of clothing design with music, singing and the visual arts with a focus on designers and artists of Creole and Francophone descent.
Participating designers include Catou Couture, Duroseau Couture, Raif, Latent Apparel Enterprises, and JSDI. While the focus is design and fashion, a talented group of live performers will lend their vision, voice and sound, to complete the evening.: including composer/violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR), GxArtStudio, Markus Schwartz of the Jazz band Mozayik, and others. The evening will end with an after party by the band DOLA, ensuring a good time for all.
Proceeds from the event will go towards the Gaskov Clerge Foundation to assist in their better health initiatives for Haiti. Through their philanthropic efforts, Gaskov Clerge Foundation gathers a group of doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals every year and proceeds to do a mission to Haiti, where they set up a mobile clinic and provide patients and area residents with much needed healthcare services, including life saving heart, lung, and other surgeries surgeries as well as other healthcare treatments to help improve their quality of life such as dentures for seniors and foot braces for children.
